Arjun Global Hosts First-Ever Gathering of 10 International Exchanges in GIFT City

Arjun Global marked a historic milestone on September 16th, 2024, by bringing together 10 international exchanges for the first time in GIFT City at the “India’s GIFT: International Financial Markets & Technology Forum.” The event not only cemented GIFT City’s position as a rising financial powerhouse but also aligned with Gandhi’s ideals of economic empowerment and self-sustainability as India celebrates his birthday today.

In a gesture symbolizing India’s spirit of self-reliance, representatives from global exchanges were presented with a special memento — a charkha (spinning wheel) — echoing the same symbol that Gandhi used as an emblem of India’s empowerment. The charkha, representing self-sufficiency, connects with GIFT City’s vision to bring international business to India and establish itself as a central hub in global finance.

India’s growing status as a booming economy has attracted significant interest from international businesses, particularly in the financial markets. With its vast and diverse community of traders — from retail investors to professional trading firms — the country presents immense opportunities for global exchanges. The forum’s large international presence reflects the growing desire of these exchanges to engage with the Indian market and offer its traders access to global opportunities. The increase in interest from international financial players year-on-year underscores India’s importance in the global economic landscape.

This unprecedented gathering featured senior executives from some of the world’s leading financial institutions, offering a platform for strategic dialogue, relationship-building, and exploring synergies between global exchanges and the Indian market, all converging at GIFT City. Leaders from international exchanges such as CME, CBOE, TMX, and GME deliberated on opportunities within global markets for Indian trading firms, highlighting the strategic role GIFT City plays in facilitating such global linkages. Indian trading firms also shared their experiences navigating domestic markets and how GIFT City’s emergence as a financial hub is reshaping India’s market landscape.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Hemal Randerwala (Hanuman Dass), Director of Arjun Global and Founder & Chair of Go Dharmic, said, “Bringing together global exchanges in GIFT City, and presenting them with the charkha ahead of Gandhi’s birthday, is symbolic of the city’s vision to drive economic independence and growth. This event signifies a turning point, not just for GIFT City, but for India’s position in global financial markets. It was an honour to host the event, at the same time that the honourable prime minister was also in GIFT City.”

In addition to business discussions, the delegates experienced a touching moment outside the forum. They visited a local school serving the children of laborers who built GIFT City, supported by Go Dharmic, a charity and movement to spread dharma through compassion in action. The guests engaged with the children through activities like games, tree planting, and exchanging handmade cards. These interactions added a heartwarming and human touch to the event, reinforcing Go Dharmic’s mission of spreading dharma and compassion through community support.

Arjun Global, a boutique consultancy dedicated to empowering businesses to thrive in the global marketplace, brought together these exchanges to set a precedent in GIFT City’s growth. With strong partnerships and a focus on driving change, Arjun Global aims to continue elevating GIFT City as a financial nexus that embodies India’s values of independence and self-reliance.
